Metroid Prime 4 is a forthcoming action-adventure game produced by Retro Studios and distributed by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The play is a part of the Metroid series and the series to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007). It was published at E3 2017 through Nintendo's online exhibition, and it was originally to be produced by Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore. However, in January 2019, the game's development restarted following Retro Studios, with producer Kensuke Tanabe.

Nintendo published Metroid Prime 4 in June 2017 through its E3 online showcase, displaying just the logo. Shortly later the decision, Bill Trinen, Director of Product Marketing at Nintendo of America, verified that Prime 4 would not be produced by Retro Studios, the atelier that produced the prior Metroid Prime games but would be manufactured by Kensuke Tanabe, the generator of the previous games. In 2018, Eurogamer informed that Prime 4 was being revealed by Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore, which involved former LucasArts staff who earlier operated on a discontinued Star Wars 1313 video game.

On numerous moments during 2018, Nintendo of America administrator Reggie Fils-Aimé declared that Metroid Prime 4 was "well into construction" and "proceeding well". However, Nintendo did not confer it at E3 2018, and announced they would just share more knowledge once they understood they "had something that would wow people". Fils-Aimé said Nintendo had announced Prime 4 early to ensure fans that a game was in improvement for Switch, comparable to their release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

In a video published in January 2019, Nintendo EPD common supervisor Shinya Takahashi declared that Metroid Prime 4 had been suspended and that advancement had been restarted with Retro Studios. Takahashi said that improvement under the preceding atelier must not meet Nintendo's standards. Nintendo's shares fell by 2.8 percent in the week following the release.
